Medical Orientation Words with Reference to the Body
(there are certain anatomic terms which present various situations; for example, a body part may be horizontal, as opposed to vertical; in front as opposed to being behind or at the back; above as opposed to being under, etc.)
						valgus					
					
						Deformed outward from midline or the opposite of varus deformed inward.					
									
						varus					
					
						Deformed inward toward the midline or the opposite of valgus, deformed outward.					
									
						ventral					
					
						A reference to the abdomen, as opposed to the dorsal or the back.					
									
						vertical					
					
						Upright, as opposed to horizontal or parallel to the floor.
